Optifoam description — Self-Foaming Neutral Degreasing Detergent
At Quimiconsult we manufacture Optifoam, a highly versatile concentrated self-foaming neutral detergent formulated to remove organic matter —fats, proteins and process residues— from production equipment, work tables, utensils, molds, facility surfaces and process and storage tanks in the meat, beverage, brewing and dairy industries and, in general, any food processing industry. Optifoam effectively removes organic matter without requiring chlorine and, because it is a mild product, it can be applied by hand without protective equipment, which simplifies handling and training for cleaning staff.
Optifoam is a neutral liquid detergent with a pH of 7.0 to 9.0 (in a 5% solution), placing it in the category of neutral pH detergents: unlike strong alkalis or acids, a neutral detergent is less aggressive on surfaces, coatings, rubber and sealing materials, and is even suitable on sensitive metals such as aluminum and zinc that an alkali or acid can attack. Its high foam formation —it is self-foaming— produces uniform coverage and extended contact time on surfaces, improving the removal of organic soil without the need for intense mechanical energy.
As direct manufacturers from our plant in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, we control every stage of formulation and production, with analytical verification of every batch. For anyone looking for a domestically manufactured neutral detergent, neutral degreaser, neutral liquid detergent, neutral pH detergent or chlorine-free self-foaming neutral cleaner for the food industry, Optifoam is the technical answer in the Quimiconsult catalog.
What is a neutral detergent and what is its advantage? (with examples)
A neutral detergent is one whose use solution has a pH close to 7 —typically between 6.5 and 9.0 depending on concentration—. Unlike alkaline detergents (pH above 10, powerful on fat and protein but more aggressive) and acid detergents (low pH, for mineral scale), a neutral pH detergent cleans through the action of its surfactants with minimal chemical aggressiveness on surfaces and materials.
What is a neutral detergent and when is it the right choice? It is the option when you need to remove organic soil —light grease, process residues— while protecting the surface: equipment with mixed or sensitive parts, aluminum or zinc components, coatings, plastics and elastomers, and in frequent cleaning where a strong alkali is not justified. Examples of neutral detergents for industrial and food use include foaming detergents for surfaces and facilities, manual detergents for utensils and equipment, and neutral cleaners for work tables, molds and tanks. Optifoam covers these uses with a single formulation, thanks to its self-foaming profile and its compatibility with manual application and pressurized foam equipment.
Technical features of Optifoam
Optifoam is a slightly amber liquid concentrate with neutral pH (7.0 to 9.0 in a 5% solution), self-foaming (high foam) and chlorine-free. Its mild formulation is designed to remove organic matter from surfaces safely for both the operator —it can be applied by hand without protection— and the equipment materials. The high foam extends the detergent's contact with vertical and inclined surfaces, improving coverage and yield per square meter without constant reapplication.
Because it contains no chlorine, Optifoam avoids the corrosive residue of hypochlorite and the need to verify it on surfaces; and thanks to its neutral pH, it does not require the handling precautions of a strong alkali or an acid. When the process requires disinfection, Optifoam is complemented by a sanitizer applied in a later step (see "The cleaning and sanitation program").

How does Optifoam work? Mechanism of the self-foaming neutral detergent
Optifoam removes organic matter through mechanisms that act on the surface without resorting to an aggressive pH:
Surfactant action (neutral detergency). The surfactants in the formulation reduce surface tension, wet the soil, surround and lift fats and organic residues, and emulsify them in the wash solution so the rinse carries them away, without needing the alkalinity of a strong detergent.
Active foam adhesion. The self-foaming formulation generates a dense layer of foam that keeps the detergent in contact with the surface long enough to lift the soil, without the product running off prematurely on vertical or inclined surfaces.
Suspension and removal in the rinse. The lifted residues remain suspended in the wash solution and are removed in the water rinse, preventing redeposition on the already clean surface.
Minimal aggressiveness (neutral pH). By working at a near-neutral pH, Optifoam removes soil while protecting surfaces, coatings, elastomers and sensitive metals, and allows manual application without the precautions required for an alkali or acid.
Where Optifoam fits: gentle surface cleaning (not CIP)
Optifoam is high-foam (self-foaming), so it is designed for cleaning surfaces, equipment, utensils and facilities by foaming, spraying, immersion and manual scrubbing —COP-type and open-surface cleaning—, where clinging foam extends contact with the soil. Because of its high foam, Optifoam is not a detergent for closed-loop CIP recirculation (excessive foam affects recirculation pumps).
Within the Quimiconsult catalog, Optifoam is the mildest step among the surface detergents, chosen for its neutrality and handling safety:
- Optifoam (neutral, pH 7 – 9): frequent, gentle cleaning of light organic matter on surfaces and sensitive metals (including aluminum and zinc), with manual application without protection.
- DGR Active (medium alkalinity): when the fat and protein load is heavier and more degreasing power is needed, with the safety of a medium alkali.
- Alkaplus (higher-power alkaline): for the most severe soil loads on surfaces and facilities.
- CIP line (low foam): for closed-loop recirculation —which Optifoam does not cover— use CLK Premium (chlorinated alkaline), Alkaflow CIP300 (chlorine-free alkaline) and Lactac LF (acid).
Optifoam industries and applications
Optifoam is indicated for removing organic matter from surfaces, equipment, utensils and facilities in the food and beverage industry. Concentration and method are validated according to the type of soil and the surface.
Meat and food industry
Cleaning of production equipment, work tables, utensils, molds and facility surfaces where light organic matter builds up. Thanks to its neutral pH and mild formulation, Optifoam is suitable for frequent cleaning without damaging surfaces or requiring protective equipment for the operator.
Beverage and brewing industry
Cleaning of surfaces, process and storage tanks, and equipment in beverage plants and breweries, where the goal is to remove organic residues with a neutral detergent that protects materials and leaves no chlorine residue.
Dairy products
Cleaning of surfaces, tables, molds and utensils in dairy plants, as a complement to the cleaning program for equipment and areas that are not part of the CIP circuit.
Facility surfaces, utensils and process areas
Cleaning of work tables, utensils, molds, tanks, floors and facility surfaces in daily plant routines. Its neutrality makes it suitable for surfaces with aluminum or zinc components or coatings that a strong alkali or acid could damage, and its manual application without protection simplifies cleaning for operating staff.
Directions for use and application of Optifoam
Application methods: Optifoam is applied with pressurized foam equipment (to cover the largest area of surfaces and facilities), by spraying, by immersion of utensils and parts, and by manual scrubbing. Because it is a mild product, it can be applied by hand without additional protective equipment.
Use: apply the Optifoam solution to the surface, let the foam work long enough to lift the soil, and rinse with water. The working concentration is adjusted to the type and amount of soil; Quimiconsult's technical team recommends the optimal dilution for each surface and application.
Good practices: finish with a complete rinse with potable water before resuming production or applying the sanitizer. For heavier or stuck-on organic matter, consider the higher-power step (DGR Active, medium alkalinity).
The cleaning and sanitation program
Optifoam is the gentle cleaning (organic matter removal) step for surfaces and facilities. A complete program continues with disinfection, in a later step with a dedicated sanitizer. Quimiconsult manufactures and supplies the products for each step:
- Surface cleaning with Optifoam (foaming, spraying, immersion or scrubbing), to remove organic matter.
- Rinse with potable water.
- Disinfection / sanitation (final step): Quimiconsult's disinfectant solution is the peracetic acid–based Anticel line (Anticel 5% / 15%), a broad-spectrum, no-rinse oxidizing sanitizer for surfaces and process equipment; we also offer Sanidet / Quaternary Ammonium for surfaces and facilities.
For equipment cleaned by CIP recirculation (which Optifoam does not cover because of its high foam), the program uses the low-foam line: CLK Premium or Alkaflow CIP300 (alkaline) and Lactac LF (acid).
Optifoam material compatibility
Thanks to its neutral pH, Optifoam is the most material-friendly surface detergent in the catalog: it is compatible with stainless steel, food-grade plastics (polypropylene, polyethylene), elastomers (EPDM, silicone) and coatings, and —unlike an alkali or an acid— it is also suitable on aluminum and zinc, metals that extreme-pH detergents can attack. This makes it suitable for equipment with mixed or sensitive parts. For non-standard materials or coatings, it is advisable to validate compatibility with a prior test and with Quimiconsult's technical team.
Safety, handling and storage of Optifoam
Optifoam is a neutral, mild product: according to its technical data sheet, it can be applied by hand without additional protective equipment, which sets it apart from alkaline and acid detergents. However, as with any chemical product, it is recommended to follow good hygiene practices, avoid prolonged contact with skin and eyes, and consult the current Safety Data Sheet (HDS/SDS); if ventilation in the area is insufficient, use respiratory protection.
First aid (general guidance): skin or eye contact, rinse with plenty of water; if discomfort persists, seek medical attention; ingestion, rinse mouth and contact a physician.
Storage: keep in its original closed container, in a cool, dry and ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight and heat. Classified and labeled in accordance with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS); the full classification, H statements and precautionary statements must be taken from the current SDS. Dispose of leftover product and containers in accordance with applicable environmental legislation.
Optifoam compared with other industrial cleaning detergents
Optifoam (neutral) vs. DGR Active (medium alkalinity): both are chlorine-free self-foaming detergents for surface cleaning. Optifoam is neutral (pH 7 – 9), milder on materials and operators, for light organic matter and sensitive surfaces (including aluminum and zinc); DGR Active has medium alkalinity, with greater degreasing power for heavier fat and protein. The choice depends on the soil load and the sensitivity of the surface.
Optifoam (neutral) vs. Alkaplus (higher-power alkaline): Optifoam cleans with minimal chemical aggressiveness; Alkaplus delivers maximum alkaline power for the most severe soil loads. Optifoam is for gentle, frequent cleaning; Alkaplus for deep cleaning of heavy soil.
Optifoam (chlorine-free) vs. chlorinated detergents: Optifoam cleans without chlorine, avoiding the corrosive residue of hypochlorite, corrosion of sensitive metals and the need to check for chlorine residues; when disinfection is required, a sanitizer is applied afterwards (Anticel line).
Optifoam vs. imported neutral detergents: Optifoam guarantees specified neutral pH, density and foam profile, in-house manufacturing with batch-by-batch control, direct technical support and nationwide availability, without the logistical dependence of an imported product.
Frequently asked questions about Optifoam
What is Optifoam and what is it used for?
Optifoam is a chlorine-free self-foaming neutral detergent (pH 7 – 9) manufactured by Quimiconsult to remove organic matter —fats, proteins and residues— from production equipment, tables, utensils, molds, tanks and facility surfaces in the meat, beverage, brewing, dairy and general food industries. It is mild and can be applied by hand without protective equipment.
What is a neutral detergent and what is its advantage?
A neutral detergent has a pH close to 7 and cleans through the action of its surfactants, with minimal chemical aggressiveness on surfaces. Its advantage is that it removes organic soil while protecting materials —including sensitive metals such as aluminum and zinc— and with safer handling than an alkali or an acid. Example uses: cleaning tables, utensils, molds, tanks and facility surfaces.
Can Optifoam be used for CIP cleaning?
No. Because of its high foam formation, Optifoam is designed for cleaning surfaces and facilities (foaming, spraying, immersion, scrubbing), not for closed-loop CIP recirculation. For CIP, low-foam detergents such as CLK Premium, Alkaflow CIP300 (alkaline) or Lactac LF (acid) are used.
How is Optifoam different from DGR Active?
Optifoam is neutral (pH 7 – 9), milder, for light organic matter and sensitive surfaces; DGR Active has medium alkalinity, with more power for heavier fat and protein. When neutral cleaning is not enough, step up to DGR Active.
Is it safe for the operator and for materials?
Yes. Thanks to its neutral pH and mild formulation, Optifoam can be applied by hand without additional protective equipment (following good hygiene practices and the SDS), and it is compatible with stainless steel, food-grade plastics, elastomers and even aluminum and zinc.
Is it a chlorine-free neutral pH detergent?
Yes. Optifoam has a neutral pH (7 – 9 in a 5% solution) and contains no chlorine, so it leaves no corrosive hypochlorite residue and does not require checking for it before resuming production.
