Propionic Acid USP Description: Short-Chain Antimicrobial Preservative At Quimiconsult we offer USP grade Propionic Acid, a clear, colorless liquid with a minimum purity of 99.5%, produced under the strict standards of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). It is a short-chain organic fatty acid with powerful antimicrobial properties, widely used as a preservative, acidulant and antifungal agent in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and animal feed industries. Its mechanism of action is based on the ability of the molecule, in its undissociated form, to penetrate the cell membrane of fungi, molds and certain bacteria, interfering with their metabolism and stopping their proliferation. This action is especially effective in products with a pH between 4.0 and 6.0, the typical range of breads, cheeses, cured meats and processed foods. Unlike other synthetic preservatives, propionic acid is a compound that occurs naturally in certain fermented foods, which positions it favorably in formula…

Product description: EDTA, a high-purity chelating agent At Quimiconsult we offer EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), the most important and widely used chelating agent in industry, with a minimum purity of 99% and a proven ability to form stable complexes with virtually every metal ion of industrial and agricultural relevance. EDTA is an organic molecule that acts as a hexadentate ligand, meaning it coordinates metals reversibly through four acetate positions and two amino positions, wrapping the metal ion in an extraordinarily stable octahedral coordination structure that keeps it soluble and bioavailable in solution. EDTA’s powerful chelating capacity makes it an indispensable compound in many industrial sectors. In agriculture, EDTA binds micronutrient metal ions such as iron, zinc, manganese, copper and calcium, preventing them from precipitating in the soil as insoluble oxides, hydroxides or carbonates that plant roots cannot absorb. By keeping these micronutrients in a chel…

PVP K90 Description — High Molecular Weight Polyvinylpyrrolidone, Film Former and Thickener   At Quimiconsult we offer USP/NF grade PVP K90, also known as polyvinylpyrrolidone K90 or povidone K90. It is an amorphous, hygroscopic, linear, non-ionic synthetic polymer supplied as a white to slightly yellowish-white powder, with a K-value in the approximate range of 85 to 95. Its CAS number is 9003-39-8 and its systematic chemical name is 2-pyrrolidinone, 1-ethenyl-, homopolymer. It is the highest molecular weight grade in the polyvinylpyrrolidone family, with an average molecular weight of approximately 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 daltons, giving it the greatest film-forming, binding, thickening and holding power in the entire PVP line.   PVP K90 is highly soluble in water and in a wide variety of organic solvents, including alcohols, glycols, organic acids and chlorinated compounds, making it one of the most versatile polymers available for industrial formulation. This exceptional solubility…

Description of PVP K30, a film former At Quimiconsult we offer USP/NF 26 grade PVP K30, also known as polyvinylpyrrolidone K30 or povidone K30. It is an amorphous, hygroscopic, linear, nonionic synthetic polymer, supplied as a white granular powder with a K value between 27.0 and 32.4. Its CAS number is 9003-39-8 and its systematic chemical name is 2-pyrrolidinone, 1-ethenyl-, homopolymer. PVP K30 is highly soluble in water and in a wide variety of organic solvents, including alcohols, glycols, organic acids and chlorinated compounds, making it one of the most versatile polymers available for industrial formulation.
