Plurasurf Description — Anionic Dispersant for Mineral Dispersion and Suspension in Fertilizers and Fertigation
At Quimiconsult we offer Plurasurf, a highly effective anionic dispersant for mineral dispersion and suspension, with excellent performance in suspending calcium and magnesium, among other minerals applied through fertigation. Plurasurf is an amber liquid with 100% active ingredient, functional in aqueous systems and versatile across a wide pH range.
In fertigation, the minerals applied with the irrigation water tend to precipitate, settle in mixing tanks and clog filters, pipes and drippers. Plurasurf keeps these minerals dispersed and in suspension, so they reach the crop evenly and the irrigation system stays clean. That is why it is used as an anionic mineral dispersant, fertilizer additive, suspension aid and soil nutrient.
For anyone looking for a fertilizer dispersant, a calcium and magnesium suspension aid, a fertigation dispersant or an additive for liquid fertilizers, Plurasurf is the technical answer in the Quimiconsult catalogue, available from Monterrey, Nuevo León, with shipping throughout Mexico in 20, 50, 200 and 1,000 kg packs.
Plurasurf technical characteristics
Plurasurf is an amber liquid with 100% active ingredient, a density of 0.98 to 1.05 g/cm³ at 20 °C and a pH of 2.00 to 3.00 in a 1% solution at 25 °C. As an anionic dispersant, it adsorbs onto the surface of mineral particles and gives them a negative charge, so they repel each other instead of clumping and settling.
Because it works in aqueous media and across a wide pH range, it can be built into liquid fertilizer formulations and fertigation nutrient solutions with a variety of nutrient sources.

How does Plurasurf work? Anionic mineral dispersion
Plurasurf keeps minerals in suspension through two mechanisms:
Adsorption and electrostatic repulsion. Plurasurf's anionic molecules adsorb onto the surface of calcium, magnesium and other mineral particles and give them a negative charge. The charged particles repel each other, so they do not clump or grow large enough to settle.
Stable suspension. By preventing clumping, Plurasurf keeps the minerals finely dispersed in the water, so the nutrient solution keeps an even concentration in the mixing tank, the irrigation network and at the point of application.
Why use a dispersant in fertigation?
Fertigation delivers nutrients dissolved or suspended in the irrigation water. When the solution contains calcium, magnesium and other minerals —from the irrigation water or the nutrient sources— they tend to precipitate and settle, especially when combined with other fertilizers or with changes in pH and temperature. The result is tank deposits, clogged filters and drippers, and uneven nutrient delivery to the crop.
A dispersant like Plurasurf prevents these problems at the mixing stage: the minerals stay in suspension, the irrigation system stays clean for longer and every plant gets the intended nutrient dose.
Plurasurf applications
The dosage and protocol should be validated with the Quimiconsult technical team for the water quality, nutrient sources and irrigation system.
Fertigation
Plurasurf's main application: as a dispersant and suspension aid in nutrient solutions applied by drip, micro-sprinkler and pivot irrigation, keeping calcium, magnesium and other minerals in suspension and protecting filters, pipes and drippers.
Liquid and suspension fertilizer formulation
As an additive in liquid fertilizers and concentrated mineral suspensions, where it improves suspension stability and reduces settling during storage and transport.
Soil nutrition and conditioning
As an aid in soil nutrition programmes, so the applied minerals spread evenly and reach the root zone.
Plurasurf directions for use
Incorporation: add Plurasurf to the mixing-tank water before adding the calcium, magnesium and other mineral sources, with stirring, so it works from the start of the mix.
Dosage: the dose depends on water hardness, the mineral load of the solution and the type of irrigation system. The Quimiconsult technical team will help you set it with compatibility and stability tests on your mix.
Good practice: run a jar test with your water and fertilizers before field application; keep the tank stirred during injection; and check filters and drippers regularly.
Plurasurf safety, handling and storage
Plurasurf is not toxic if ingested. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of eye contact, rinse under running water and seek medical attention; in case of skin contact, rinse with soap and water. Wear personal protective equipment when handling the product: safety glasses and gloves. Follow the recommendations in its current Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
Storage: store at room temperature for ease of use, in the original closed container. Dispose of leftover product and empty containers in accordance with current environmental regulations.
Plurasurf compared with other agricultural additives
Plurasurf (dispersant) vs. chelating agents such as EDTA: a chelating agent forms a soluble complex with each metal ion and needs doses proportional to the amount of mineral. Plurasurf does not dissolve the mineral: it keeps it dispersed and in suspension, an efficient solution when the calcium and magnesium load is high. The two can complement each other in the same formulation.
Plurasurf vs. wetting agents and adjuvants (Intex, Celerad): wetting agents and adjuvants improve the coverage and penetration of spray mixes on the leaf. Plurasurf works inside the nutrient solution, keeping minerals in suspension; they do different jobs within the agricultural programme.
Plurasurf frequently asked questions
What is Plurasurf and what is it used for?
Plurasurf is an anionic dispersant for mineral dispersion and suspension, with excellent performance in suspending calcium and magnesium. It is used in fertigation, as a fertilizer additive, suspension aid and soil nutrient.
Which minerals does it keep in suspension?
Its technical data sheet highlights its performance with calcium and magnesium, among other minerals applied through fertigation.
Does it prevent drippers from clogging?
By keeping minerals dispersed and in suspension, Plurasurf reduces the settling and deposits that clog filters, pipes and drippers.
Does it work at any pH?
Plurasurf is an anionic dispersant that is versatile across a wide pH range and functional in aqueous systems.
Is it toxic?
Plurasurf is not toxic if ingested. Even so, avoid contact with eyes and skin, following the recommendations in its SDS.
