Biocides for Pharmaceuticals & Wellness

Benzalkonium chloride: Product description At Quimiconsult we offer Benzalkonium Chloride 80 %, an industrial disinfectant and biocidal agent belonging to the quaternary ammonium salt family, widely used in professional sanitization and microbiological control processes. It comes as a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a minimum active content of 80 %, designed for concentrated formulations that require high efficacy, chemical stability and easy dosing. Benzalkonium chloride is a non-volatile biocide, effective against a broad range of bacteria, fungi, algae and enveloped viruses. It acts mainly by interacting with the cell membranes of microorganisms, which inactivates them. For this reason, it is used as an active ingredient in industrial, institutional and livestock disinfectants, as well as in sanitizing solutions for surfaces, equipment and process areas. For those asking what benzalkonium chloride is used for, or looking for a reliable benzalkonium chloride disinfectant, o…

Product Description: Benzalkonium Chloride 50%, Broad-Spectrum Quaternary Disinfectant At Quimiconsult we offer Benzalkonium Chloride 50%, a high-concentration quaternary ammonium compound widely recognized worldwide as one of the most versatile, effective and safe disinfectants and antiseptics on the market. It comes as a clear, colorless to slightly yellowish liquid, water-soluble, highly foaming and with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (6.5 – 8.0 in 1% aqueous solution), with a minimum active ingredient content of 50% and a maximum free amine content of 2.0%, parameters that guarantee both the microbicidal potency and the chemical purity of the product. Its CAS number is 63449-41-2, and it is identified internationally under names such as benzalkonium chloride, BAK, BKC, alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride, ADBAC or simply quaternary ammonium. Chemically, benzalkonium chloride is a mixture of alkylbenzyldimethylammonium chlorides with alkyl chains of varying length (typically C1…

Methylparaben, a preservative and antimicrobial agent The USP-grade methylparaben offered by Quimiconsult is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial preservative designed for cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food applications that demand high purity, stability and safety in the microbiological protection of formulations. It comes as a fine white powder with an assay of 98.0–102.0 %, ensuring consistency in production processes and compliance with the standards of the United States Pharmacopeia. Its bacteriostatic and fungicidal action is especially effective against gram-positive bacteria, molds and yeasts, helping to maintain microbiological stability and extend the shelf life of water-based products and systems susceptible to contamination. From a physicochemical standpoint, methylparaben is very slightly soluble in water and freely soluble in 96 % ethanol and methanol, which makes it easy to incorporate into hydroalcoholic solutions, perfumes, mouthwashes and liquid cosmetic formulations. Its p…

Propylparaben USP description — High-Purity Propyl Ester of para-Hydroxybenzoic Acid At Quimiconsult we offer Propylparaben USP, also known as propyl ester of para-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-hydroxybenzoic acid) or simply propylparaben (propilparabeno), a pharmaceutical grade antimicrobial preservative widely used worldwide in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries for its high bacteriostatic and fungistatic power, its excellent safety profile documented over more than 80 years of commercial use, and its chemical stability in formulations —aqueous, hydroalcoholic and oily— across wide pH and temperature ranges. It is a fine white, odorless, tasteless powder, with a certified assay of 98.0–102.0% purity per the USP monograph, residue on ignition of 0.1% maximum, heavy metals (as lead) less than or equal to 10 mg/kg, and a low acidity value (NMT 0.1 mL of 0.1 N NaOH required to change the indicator color), parameters that guarantee pharmacopeial quality suitable for critical appli…

Description of Ethylparaben USP — High-Purity Ethyl Ester of para-Hydroxybenzoic Acid At Quimiconsult we offer Ethylparaben USP, also known as ethyl ester of para-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-hydroxybenzoic acid), ethylparaben (etilparabeno), ethyl paraben (etil parabeno) or ethylparaben, a pharmaceutical grade antimicrobial preservative widely used worldwide in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries for its strong bacteriostatic and fungistatic power, its excellent safety profile documented over decades of commercial use, and its unique balance between water solubility and biocidal potency, which positions it as the intermediate paraben of the family and one of the most regulatorily versatile. It is a fine white powder, odorless and tasteless, with a certified assay of 98.0 to 102.0% purity per the USP monograph, heavy metals (as lead) less than or equal to 10 mg/kg, and a low acidity value (NMT 0.1 mL of 0.1 N NaOH required to turn the indicator blue), parameters that guarantee …

Description of antimicrobial potassium sorbate At Quimiconsult we offer food grade Potassium Sorbate, manufactured by Nantong Acetic Acid®, a preservative used worldwide for its high antimicrobial efficacy, chemical stability and compatibility with multiple matrices. It comes as a fine-grained white powder, 100 % active and highly soluble in water, which makes it easy to incorporate evenly into both liquid formulations and dry blends, without leaving residue, causing turbidity or interfering with the production process. Potassium sorbate acts as a selective antimicrobial agent, effective against molds, yeasts and fungi, particularly in low-pH products, where it performs best. Its mechanism of action inhibits the microbial growth responsible for spoilage, without affecting desirable microorganisms or altering the organoleptic properties of the final product. Thanks to its high purity and stability, potassium sorbate helps extend shelf life, maintain microbiological safety and preserve…

DXL 100 Description — High-Performance Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide Disinfectant for Surfaces and Equipment in the Food Industry   At Quimiconsult we manufacture DXL 100, a high-performance disinfectant, an alternative to conventional chlorine dioxide, for surfaces, equipment and facilities in the food industry in Mexico. DXL 100 is a stabilized chlorine dioxide solution with 10% active chlorine (active content of 9.75 to 10.25%), a broad-spectrum bactericide and fungicide with wetting and penetrating action, formulated for post-cleaning disinfection in dairy plants, packing plants, fruit and vegetable processors and bottling plants.   DXL 100 is supplied as a slightly amber liquid, ready to be pre-diluted in water without releasing vapors, which makes it a practical way to bring the oxidizing action of chlorine dioxide into the plant without relying on on-site generation equipment.
