Propylene Glycol USP, also known as E1520, Isopropylene Glycol. Translucent high-purity liquid, fully miscible with water and minimum 99.5% active content. It is slightly viscous, colorless, and excellent as a solvent for organic compounds insoluble in water. Viscous and hygroscopic, it is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Applications: foods, beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and other technical formulations. Properties: pH (1% solution) 6.0–7.0, specific gravity 1.030–1.037 g/cm³ (25 °C), maximum water 0.2%, color ≤10 Pt-Co, acidity as acetic acid ≤0.005%, chlorides ≤70 mg/kg, sulfates ≤60 mg/kg, heavy metals (Pb) ≤5 mg/kg, residue on ignition ≤70 mg/kg.
