HPMC HYDROXYPROPYLMETHYL CELLULOSE MODIFIED CELLULOSE

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, cosmetic and pharmaceutical grade. Yellowish-white powder, nonionic, soluble in aqueous solutions with a pH of 3 to 11 and stable in alcoholic concentrations up to 100%. It presents a viscosity of 3,000 to 5,600 cps, low content of non-dispersible fibers, and excellent compatibility with metallic salts and organic ionic compounds. Used as a thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, and suspending agent in liquid and semi-solid systems, especially in ophthalmic products due to its high clarity and stability. Applications: eye drops, ophthalmic gels, lotions, creams, topical gels, oral solutions, emulsions, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Properties: pH 6.0–8.5, loss on drying max. 5.0%, viscosity 3,000–5,600 cps. Also known as: HPMC, hypromellose, modified cellulose, gel-forming agent.
